This paper highlights why gas turbine varnish problems utilizing modern turbine oils have been unsuccessfully solved using electrostatic and depth media filter technologies. It is found that the contaminants are in solution and cannot be successfully removed with these technologies while the unit is online. A new technology is introduced that removes varnish-causing contaminants while they are in solution. |
