Problem
Over a period of two years, a major Offshore operator in Qatar had changed lube oil on a particular turbine twice and was about to change it a third time. The oil analysis results revealed that the oil was in a critical condition with MPC values over 50 and the bearing temperatures kept increasing. These conditions would force the third undesired oil change.
Solution
With the help of Petrotec, Fluitec’s ESP VITA™ III unit was attached to the system and DECON™ added as well. This would help to prevent further deposits while removing the existing deposits to help return the temperatures to normal.
Results
Within four days, the MPC value was reduced and the bearing temperatures drastically declined. The MPC values have been maintained well below 10 even after the ESP unit was taken offline. The bearing temperatures also normalized and also remain below the warning limits after the ESP unit was taken offline.
